Dead End feature film

Tom is a factory worker in a dystopian future, stripped of rights and treated as just a part of the assembly line. At night, in computer-projected dreams, he is wealthy, successful, and attractive. However, recently, he has been having recurring dreams about his childhoods and a girl he used to be a friend with. The reason for this is a malfunction caused by faulty neural contacts built into his head.

About

"Dead End" is a loose adaptation set in the world of Vladimir Kuzmenko's book The Tree of Life. The Soviet scientist and sci-fi writer created a monumental work about humanity, friendship with AI, and the unity of minds. This depth resonated with the director, a physicist by training, who has always sought careful development in science fiction.

The film respects the original novel, but only touches on a small part of it. For maximum immersion in the story, the film is made with maximum practical sets - lasers, conveyors, interfaces and minimal use of VFX. This is a rare example of hard science fiction - with a multi-layered plot and the spirit of the 80s.
